Device Reveals How He Feels About Returning Home to Astralis From NIP
The king returns home to claim his throne once again.
The highly speculated move has finally come true as Astralis completes the signing of Nicolai "device" Reedtz over from Ninjas in Pyjamas (NIP). The Danish esports organization has acquired the star AWPer on a multi-year deal and plans on making him one of the cornerstones for the future of its CS:GO team.
Talking about his arrival back to his former team, device was at a loss for words and found it hard to express how happy he was to be home again. He thanked fans for supporting him "over what has been a really difficult period" and exclaimed that his experience with NIP was positive.
"They were understanding of my decision to take the time I needed to recover," said device, wishing NIP's current CS:GO roster the best for the IEM Rio Major 2022.
Device shares how he feels about moving from NIP back to Astralis
Last year in April, device had announced his surprise departure from Astralis as he moved over to NIP, but only eight months later the 27-year-old stepped away from the competitive circuit due to personal reasons that had started affecting his performance.
Now more than 10 months later, Astralis has completed the acquisition of its former star player, returning home once again after a short and disappointing run with the Swedish esports organization.
Though device has been completely away from competitive CS:GO during this time, taking care of his mental wellbeing and trying to negotiate his transfer back to Astralis, he has also been grinding hard on FACEIT in an attempt to get back in shape.
After almost two months of back and forth, NIP and Astralis seem to have come to a settlement regarding device's transfer offer.
"Astralis is very close to my heart and everyone who has been here for a period of time knows that it is a very special organization with great values, lots of internal support, and I am more than ready to help build Astralis' future!" expressed device, adding that he took the time he needed to undergo recovery and is motivated now to compete again.
"Astralis has a unique fan base that supports us through thick and thin, and I'm just happy to be able to pull on the shirt again and repay the support that I and the team have always experienced," concludes device.
Device's arrival has sidelined Asger "Farlig" Jensen and it will be interesting to see how Astralis performs in the upcoming Elisa Masters Espoo 2022, which is the only remaining tournament so far this year where the team's attendance has been confirmed.
