S1mple Shocked by Astralis' CS:GO Roster During Practice
  • S1mple talks about Natus Vincere's performance with B1T in the currently ongoing practice matches.
  • S1mple also hints at a possible Astralis CS:GO roster shuffle saying that “We were very very surprised (to see) what players were playing for Astralis".
  • Na'Vi is currently bootcamping in Kyiv, practicing with B1T who is replacing flamie in the starting roster for 2 upcoming tournaments.

Na’Vi star AWPer Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev in his April 20 Twitch stream expressed shock when talking about the Astralis CS:GO lineup witnessed by him during practice. The 23-year-old was initially speaking about the young Ukrainian rifler Valerii “B1T” Vakhovskyi, who recently replaced a long-standing member of the Na’Vi lineup Egor “flamie” Vasilev on the main roster for 2 upcoming tournaments. But a question from one of the viewers caught s1mple’s attention as he started speaking about the Danish powerhouse Astralis stating that “We were very very surprised (to see) what players were playing for Astralis. When you find out (about) this, you will also be shocked”.

Is Astralis CS:GO roster undergoing changes?

Natus Vincere’s CS:GO roster is currently bootcamping in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. The team has been practicing hard since 11 April, with the training scheduled to go on till 24 April. The team is focused on performing well at the upcoming DreamHack Masters Spring 2021 and the first RMR Event of 2021, for which they have rested flamie, giving B1T a chance to play for Na’Vi across all maps.

Talking about their ongoing practice s1mple in a recent Twitch stream said that “We (Na’Vi) have lost only 5 practice matches out of the 30 played with B1T, he is playing well”. It seems Na’Vi is still playing a few matches with flamie, not keeping him out of the loop in case they need him to play at a moments notice. Maybe a backup in case they put up a poor performance at the upcoming DreamHack Masters Spring 2021.

While this discussion was going on a viewer caught s1mple’s attention by asking him, “Is Astralis strong in practice?” To which s1mple responded by saying that,

“We played Astralis one time, there were not very strong. On one of the maps, however, we were really, really surprised (to see) what players were playing for Astralis. When you find out (about) this, you will also be shocked, I promise. I can't say it now as it is their business. That's what happened.”

While s1mple might not have directly said that Astralis were playing with a different CS:GO roster, it is understood that the Danish roster might be undergoing some changes. No official statement has been made by Astralis or any of its players regarding this, but it is definitely something that has been teased and talked about by the Astralis players themselves for quite some time now.

It will be interesting to see if this turns out to be true or not, considering Astralis has not been performing all that well since February 2021. Their first match elimination against OG at the recently concluded BLAST Premier: Spring Showdown 2021 might just have been the final nail in the coffin.
