One of the most prominent gaming personalities from Brazil, Alexandre "Gaules" Borba is currently the “official PogChamp of Twitch” for the next 24 hours. The 37-year-old Brazilian CS:GO streamer who has 2.4 million followers on Twitch has been randomly selected as the ‘PogChamp Emote’ for a whole day, something that the streaming platform recently started doing.
The Brazilian community is ecstatic as one of the most popular esports personality from the region just became the “official PogChamp of Twitch”. His face is currently being spammed throughout the world as the ‘PogChamp Emote’ on the streaming platform and will continue to be like that till the end of the day.
Gaules himself shared the news on his social media with multiple esports organizations and gaming brands congratulating him. The official Twitter account of ‘Twitch Brazil’ also announced that “For 24h, Gaules is the official PogChamp of Twitch!”
PogChamp which is short for “Play of Game Champ” is one of the most iconic emotes used on Twitch. The original emote was the face of former Street Fighter player Ryan Gutierrez aka Gootecks, but due to a controversial Tweet published by him recently, Twitch came forward to announce that they were removing the PogChamp emote.
Following this announcement, on 8 Jan Twitch came forward with a solution to the missing PogChamp emote. What was originally a suggestion from Twitch streamer Sean Plott is what Twitch decided to roll with, they decided to implement a new PogChamp emote every day.
Well, since then a new streamer is randomly selected by Twitch and made the ‘PogChamp of the Day’. Gaules is the biggest CS:GO Twitch streamer so far who has been selected to represent the PogChamp emote, he will continue to be that for the duration of the day with a new streamer’s face replacing his tomorrow.
This move by Twitch was not contested by the gaming community who have slowly started to like this approach. It is uncertain at the moment if Twitch will continue to implement this as a permanent solution but for now, they do not seem to have any plans of changing it.
