CS:GO Skin Sells For A Record $150,000

All those who regularly play CS:GO are well aware of the skin trading business related to the game. Most players use it casually to get their favorite skins, sell off duplicates, or just earn some quick cash to purchase something else on Steam. But then there are a few who take this super seriously and have made quite a fortune by turning CS:GO skin trading into a lucrative business.

The recent record-breaking CS:GO skin deal reportedly made by popular trader ‘ROFL’ by selling his friend’s ‘Case Hardened AK-47 (ST MW 661)’ skin which had 4 ‘Titan | Katowice 2014’ stickers for $150,000 is a perfect example of how huge this niche industry is. The above transaction has made the sale of this CS:GO skin the most expensive in the history of Counter-Strike, it was $50,000 more expensive than the previous record-holding CS:GO skin.

This has now officially become the most expensive CS:GO skin purchase in the world, coming six months after a Chinese collector had reportedly purchased the ultra rare CS:GO skin ‘StatTrak M4A4 Howl with 4 iBUYPOWER Katowice 2014 stickers’ for a price of $100,000 USD. Though there were some rumours about him planning to resell the skin for around $130,000 USD, no update on the matter has surfaced ever since.

Renowned CS:GO economist OhnePixel gave further insight on the deal cracked by ‘ROFL’ by revealing that, the CS:GO skin was purchased within two days of its advertisement for sale going live.

A document shared by ‘ROFL’ himself further shows that the $150,000 USD skin was not the only rare skin that he is apparently selling on behalf of his friend, but one of the many. A few other skins which are currently on sale are,

  • Factory New Dragon Lore - $8,250
  • Factory New Medusa - $3,000
  • Factory New Hot Rod + 4 iBP Holo - $30,000
  • Factory New Howl (ST) - $40,000
  • Complete Katowice 2014 Sticker Collection - Variable
