  • ENCE bench suNny in mutual agreement while giving him permission to pursue new opportunities.
  • ENCE also announce that they are rebuilding their CS:GO roster for the 2021 season.
  • This is the third time that suNny was removed from ENCE.

The Finnish esports organization ENCE has come to a mutual agreement with their in-game leader Miikka "suNny" Kemppi to bench him from the active CS:GO roster, effective immediately. Having taken this decision ENCE is currently left with three active players on their roster, one of whom cannot participate in Valve sponsored tournaments.

The organization also stated that they have already started the process of restructuring and rebuilding their CS:GO roster. Further update on this situation will be provided by ENCE after the Christmas holidays, during which the team will most likely finalize their final two or three players for the upcoming 2021 season.

SuNny Benched By ENCE

ENCE had issued a statement about a week back on 17th December, admitting that mistakes had been made and they were taking “Full responsibility in not understanding the severity of the existing problems”. The organization had further informed everyone that they were “internally evaluating the situation” with their CS:GO team.

Well, it turns out that the outcome of the evaluation process is suNny getting benched from ENCE’s active CS:GO roster. Something that a lot of community members had predicted was likely on the cards among a few other assumptions.

The mutual agreement seems to have been made in favour of the player as ENCE has given him “permission to pursue new opportunities”. This seems to be in sync with the speculations about suNny joining the Swedish esports organization GODSENT who are currently looking for an experienced IGL to lead their mixed CS:GO lineup.

This was suNny’s third stint with ENCE overall, having previously played for the organization once in 2013-14 and then again in 2016. In the sixteen months that he has spent with the roster this time, the only tournament at which ENCE performed well was CS:GO Asia Championship 2019 where they placed second. Apart from that, it has been a pretty disappointing run by the Finnish side especially this year in 2020. It will be interesting to see who picks up suNny for the upcoming 2021 season considering that IGL’s are in high demand across the board.

ENCE Starts Rebuilding CS:GO Team For 2021

Apart from benching suNny the organization also stated that they had already started evaluating their next steps for the 2021 CS:GO season.

“The process to restructure and rebuild our CS:GO team is ongoing and we will further communicate our 2021 plans after the Christmas holidays have concluded. We understand our fans and followers wish to know our vision for the upcoming year, but we ask you to bear with us as we work tirelessly to come to a conclusion.”

Let’s see how ENCE tackles the coming weeks when the competitive CS:GO season will be on a break and multiple teams all over the world will be making changes to gather a stronger and a more reliable team.
