FaZe Clan seems to have awakened from their slumber as they defeated OG in the grand final of IEM New York 2020 - Europe to claim the title along with $70,000 and 400 ESL Pro Tour points. While the best of five series was a short-lived encounter with FaZe winning the matchup ‘3-0’ the intense banter between Markus "Kjaerbye" Kjaerbye and Nathan "NBK-" Schmitt before and during the finals was what kept everyone thoroughly entertained.

FaZe Clan’s newest member Kjaerbye was not going to be an idle presence going into his first grand final with the team as he decided to take a friendly jab at their opponents by stating that OG was going to choke once again in the finals.

Giving him a crisp reply was none other than OG’s senior member NBK who shared the Danes stats from the last three months, calling him out for his poor individual performance while nudging him to keep up with that kind of a show.

This was just the start as Kjaerbye after putting on a solid show in the first map Mirage where he took 33 frags in total. once again took a dig at NBK by calling him out to join the server. With no response from the other side as FaZe Clan continued to dominate OG, the final blow was once again dished out by Kjaerbye who recalled the stats that NBK had posted earlier and said that This aged well.

At the end of the day, it was just friendly banter as the two players acknowledged it themselves. NBK even congratulated FaZe and outright said that they were “completely outclassed”. The community also seemed to have enjoyed this exchange of blows between the two players with talents like Alex "Machine" Richardson and Sudhen "Bleh" Wahengbam hyping it up even further.

This is FaZe Clan’s first big win this year with the new roster and second overall since having won BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 Regular Season in February. The rumor's about Nikola “NiKo” Kovac leaving FaZe to join G2 Esports are still doing the rounds but nothing is crystal clear at the moment.
