Time and again Oleksandr "s1mple" Kostyliev has proved why he is considered by the majority of the community to be the best in the business. The Ukrainian keeps outperforming himself, constantly breaking old records to create new ones and his most recent accomplishment of becoming the ‘Highest Rated Player in Pistol Rounds’ in the first half of 2020 shows, that he is only getting better.
The 22-year-old has been playing professionally in the Counter-Strike scene for more than six years now. During this time s1mple has grown as a player both inside and outside the game, holding the title of the best player in the world for the year 2018 as per HLTV.
Though he slipped down to the second place last year losing out to Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut, s1mple is still considered to be the best and has consistently proved why this is so, not just by trash-talking in post-game interviews but through his game as well.
His most recent achievement consists of him becoming the ‘Highest Rated Player in Pistol Rounds’ in the first half of 2020 with an overall rating of 1.42 across a total of 113 maps, beating the French juggernaut ZywOo who placed second on the list with a rating of 1.40 in 109 maps.
Denis "electronic" Sharipov, s1mple’s Russian teammate from Na’Vi was also present on the rank list at the seventh position with a rating of 1.30 in 113 maps. Two other Russian players present on the rank list were the Gambit Youngsters duo of Dmitry "sh1ro" Sokolov and Sergey "Ax1Le" Rykhtorov.
With a total of five CIS players present in the top twelve highest-rated players in the pistol round, the region seems to be doing quite well for themselves when it comes to sidearm duels.
Note: The rank list takes into consideration only those players that are among the top thirty teams in the world at the moment according to the HLTV rankings, while counting all matches that were played professionally between 1st January and 25th July 2020.
S1mple has been having a ball of a time so far, his team might have gone through some turbulent times but he has kept hammering the opposition with some incredible performances. His influence over the next generation of players is immense which is evident by the fact that he was the most viewed CS:GO player on Liquipedia in the first half of 2020.
With the showmatch between Na’Vi CS 1.6 (2010) lineup versus the current team just ‘round the corner everyone seems to be extremely hyped for the faceoff between s1mple and the legendary Yegor “markeloff” Markelov.
