  • Twistzz talks about Stewie2K calling the shots for Team Liquid.

  • Stewie2K himself confirms calling plays for Team Liquid for some time now as nitr0 wants to focus on his game.

  • Stewie2K does not look too pleased to take on the responsibility stating that he is not motivated to play CS right now.

Despite winning the ESL Pro Season 11: North America back in April, Team Liquid seems to be going through a rough patch as of late. The North American team struggled at the recently concluded ESL One: Road to Rio - North America, securing a poor 4th place finish and it seems that a change in leadership might be on the cards in order to get back to winning ways.

While streaming on Twitch, Russel “Twistzz” Van Dulken who was enjoying a deathmatch shared some news about the team saying that, “Right now it is Stewie who is currently calling.”

This points to the fact that Team Liquid is trying to move things around in order to get better results, as the team recently lost its opening match at DreamHack Masters Spring 2020 against Chaos Esports Club.

This snippet of information from Twistzz was expanded upon by Stewie2K himself, as he stated that “Recently nitr0 said that he wanted to focus on his game because he was playing kinda bad and people wanted me to start calling, so I started calling for them since the last week and a half.”

He also stated that he has been putting in the extra hours, watching games and focussing on our opponents, while also saying that “I’m not motivated to play CS right now just cause we are playing a match like every other day and like how can we even get better if we have our own problems and don’t even have time to fix it.”

So, despite Stewie2K taking over as the IGL for Team Liquid, it doesn’t look like a viable solution for the team, as the rifler has already stated how he currently feels and wants the team to fix this problem rather than just hand it over to him.

The users were not too happy with this decision and spoke at length about it, criticising Liquid’s move while also agreeing to the fact that nitr0 has been struggling to perform lately.

What happens going forward is yet to be seen, as Liquid prepare to faceoff against FURIA later in the day today.
