Despite running the IEM Katowice 2020 in an empty Spodek Arena due to Coronavirus concerns, ESL seems to have done a fabulous job as the grand finals between Na’Vi and G2 Esports observed a peak viewership of more than a million viewers, making IEM Katowice 2020 the most viewed non-Major CS:GO tournament.

The finale which was bound to be a close competition between the two teams attracted more than a million viewers who tuned in to watch the action live, the peak viewership during the finale was 1,002,132, way above the average viewership of the tournament of around 273,057.

With this, IEM Katowice 2020 became the third most viewed tournament considering the peak viewership of a tournament. Both Katowice and London Majors stood above it with a peak of 1.2 and 1.08 million viewers, respectively.

With a Ukrainian team playing in the finals even the Russian broadcast observed a huge spike in its viewership with a peak of around 382,000, making it the third most viewed tournament in the history of Russian broadcasts, trailing only The International 9 and The Kyiv Major 2017.

It was an outstanding performance by Na’Vi who outplayed G2 in each sphere of the game, attaining a ‘3-0’ victory and starting off 2020 with a huge win.
