The European Qualifier for IEM Katowice 2020 which kicked off yesterday had FaZe Clan in for a surprise, after a CS:GO bug almost spoiled their chances of mounting a successful comeback against ARCY in their opening match of the qualifier.

FaZe Clan who were down ‘14-9’ against the Polish squad of ARCY staged a massive comeback, reaching the map point before them only to be disrupted by a weird CS:GO bug that had the bomb stuck in the cement.

At the start of the round, FaZe dropped the bomb on the ground and because of a weird bug, the bomb seemed to have sunk into the cement, with the players unable to pick it up. This could have costed them dearly, but the round was reset with everyone starting off with the same money and equipment as before.

FaZe did not let this minor set back affect their momentum, as they pushed ahead and won the reset to take the map off ARCY. They went on to win the second game on Dust 2 as well, to qualify into the semifinals, where they had a tough match against ENCE, defeating whom they qualified for IEM Katowice 2020.

This is not the first time that such a bug has been spotted in a competitive tournament, with the bomb getting stuck at weird places, unable to be retrieved by the T-side. Let’s see how much damage the European mix is able to inflict at the main event in Katowice.
