The first semifinal of the StarLadder Berlin Major 2019 came to an end with AVANGAR making its way through to the finals as they knocked Renegades out of the tournament, winning back-to-back games on Mirage and Dust 2 with Dzhami ’Jame’ Ali and Alexey ‘qikert’ Golubev, standing out as ‘the players’ for AVANGAR.

AVANGAR Fights It Out To The Finals

Renegades - 19

The face-off started with Renegades going up against AVANGAR on their own map pick, Mirage. AVANGAR had a decent start as they held a slight lead at half-time and though the Australian roster hit them hard in the second half, they managed to take the game into overtime.

Both teams gave a tough fight but after a long drawn duel, it was AVANGAR that came through as the winners of the first game.

With an early advantage and the comfort of playing on their map pick, Dust 2, the CIS squad looked in good shape to take this home. Renegades started off really well but AVANGAR came from behind to take a comfortable lead to secure themselves a great first half.

Though Renegades did manage to win the force buy in the second half, that was all that came their way as AVANGAR shut them out hard. Running away with the game and securing the series ‘2-0’ in their favour.

Qikert was on fire in the second map as he showed great consistency throughout, finding those opening kills effortlessly and giving AVANGAR a good read on the oppositions positioning. Jame too played a strong hand, being the backbone of the team throughout this tournament, he stuck to his game and succeeded yet again.

With this, AVANGAR is the first team to make it to the finals of the StarLadder Berlin Major 2019 and if they go on to lift the trophy tomorrow, then Dauren ‘AdreN’ Kystaubayev will become the first player from the CIS region to win two majors.
