The Sandbox Unveils Alpha Season 3: Here's Everything You Need to Know
The gaming market has been flooded by a number of new blockchain titles, thanks to the genre’s rise in popularity. Although these new projects are innovative, they haven’t been able to disrupt the legacy of well-known older projects such as the Sandbox, which is considered a pioneer in the Web3 gaming industry. Comprised of devoted developers and loyal fans, the Sandbox game has created an open metaverse where users can create their own experiences and interact with other people in-game.
What is the Sandbox Alpha Season?
While the Sandbox is one of the most popular blockchain gaming projects, it hasn’t been completely developed yet. The role of Alpha Season is to give players a sneak peek into the behind-the-scenes action. This means users can test out new features, take part in various social events, explore the Sandbox metaverse, try out the Play-to-Earn games and win exciting rewards. While this helps retain user interest for an ongoing project, it also helps developers iron out any bugs or glitches that exist in the game. Until now, there have been two Alpha Seasons of the Sandbox with each attracting flocks of users.
The Sandbox Alpha Season 3
With two successful seasons already over, the Sandbox recently announced the release date of Alpha Season 3. With exciting experiences, new features, and plenty of things to explore, fans all over the world are excited for the launch on the 24th August.
Here’s everything you need to know about this Alpha Season:
Increase in Playable Experiences
The Alpha Season three will have over 90 playable experiences and they will be revealed over the course of 10 weeks. There will be solo and multiplayer experiences that will keep users engaged. Notably, 27 of those experiences will include brand partners like Snoop Dogg, The Walking Dead, Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), World of Women, and more. There will be 17 experiences from The Sandbox alongside 20 experiences supported by The Sandbox Game Maker Fund. This season will also feature 12 user-generated content and 16 experiences from Game Jams.
Playable External Avatar
The team at the Sandbox has successfully managed to voxelize avatars from 13 popular non-fungible token (NFT) collections hence making the Sandbox truly interoperable. These collections include Cool Cats, Clone X, World of Women, Moonbirds, Bored Ape Yacht Club, People of Crypto, Doggies, and more. These avatars will be playable within the Sandbox Alpha Season 3 and will serve as the user's digital identity.
Rewards for Hodlers
This season the Sandbox has introduced rewards for non-Alpha Pass holders. If a user holds a certain NFT during this season, they will be rewarded with SAND tokens. Apart from that, LAND owners, Avatar Holders and NFT collectors will also receive SAND rewards when completing a level. The rewards will be distributed as follows:
Alpha Pass: up to 500 SAND
LAND Owner: up to 180 SAND
Avatar Owner: up to 60 SAND
NFT Collector: up to 30 SAND
Introduction of Leaderboard Rewards
During Alpha Season 3, a total of 1.5M SAND tokens will be distributed to the top-ranking players on the leaderboard. Rankings will be calculated based on Ethos Points (EPs). Users will earn EPs for completing quests while taking into consideration the time to complete them. This means users who complete more quests in a short amount of time will be ranked higher on the leaderboard.
AS3 Events
Users can take part in many different events this season. Players can complete in-game and social media activities to complete challenges and participate in giveaways.
Introduction of KYC System
The Sandbox Alpha Season 3 will see the introduction of a Know Your Customer (KYC) system. This will help in preventing multi-accounting, and cheating, and through this system, the Sandbox hopes to increase fair play. Users can still participate in Alpha Season 3 without KYC but to join raffles and be eligible for Alpha Pass, KYC is mandatory.
