Renowned lifestyle brand Playboy is entering the Web3 space with the iconic Playboy Mansion in The Sandbox (SAND) metaverse announced in a tweet featuring the iconic Playboy bunny outfits, ushering players to the Mansion.

The Sandbox (SAND) is the one of the largest interactive blockchain metaverses, built upon the Ethereum blockchain utilizing NFTs to allow players to create, share and earn through assets such as accessories and $LAND which can be rented, sold or built upon.

Playboy enters the metaverse through The Sandbox

Playboy is looking to expand its presence in Web3 by entering ‘The Sandbox’ metaverse with a licensing collaboration. Playboy announced that users will be able to immerse themselves into the “Metamansion” that will feature interactive mini-games, social parties and programmed gaming and entertainment events using Playboy’s content library.

Playboy was one of the first companies to enter the Non-Fungible Token (NFT) space through a collaboration with Nifty Gateway in April 2021, and ended up selling out their ‘Liquid Summer’ in three minutes. This was followed by a collaboration with Superrare to release the Miami Beach NFT Collection in July 2021. The company then followed it up with the ‘Playboy Rabbitars’ collection that was released in October of 2021, which led to the company making $12 million in NFTs that year, according to Business Insider.

Holders of the Rabbitars NFT and The Sandbox LAND will have exclusive experiences and access to special quests and giveaways within The Sandbox. The details of the launch have still not been released.

This is just one of many brands that have joined The Sandbox metaverse over the past year. The Sandbox partnered with gaming giants Square Enix and Ubisoft in order to add the Dungeon Siege IP and Rabbids to its blockchain gaming land. Just yesterday, Pro Skater Tony Hawk announced his entry into the Sandbox by promising to build the “biggest skatepark in any world — whether the metaworld or metaverse.”

In addition to this, The Sandbox has also previously collaborated with a number of big names in the entertainment industry including Warner Music Group, The Rabbids, The Walking Dead, Snoop Dogg, Deadmau5, Steve Aoki, Richie Hawtin, The Smurfs, Atari, Zepeto and CryptoKitties.
