If you thought PUBG Mobile is the only game with an upwards trend in the country, it seems as if you’re in for a surprise as the Free Fire India Today League has been announced with a whopping prize pool of INR 35 lakh.

Garena, who are the developers behind the title have made an active effort in promoting their game as a viable esport. This tournament looks to be a step in a similar direction with specific focus on the Indian market. The large prize pool is sure to attract interest from players and viewers alike and may even convince some gamers to switch to Free Fire from other popular titles. The announcement is also backed up by the fact that Garena posted a hiring announcement via Linkedin for the role of an "esports associate"

The competition will be structured into 2 phases with the online stage followed by the offline grand finals, which will be held in Delhi on the 12th of October. The online phase will play out in the month of September from the 16th to the 29th. The tournament is only open to Indian citizens and along with a cut of the the prize pool, the winners will travel to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil to represent India in a global tournament.

Registrations for the event are now open and will last till the 12th of September. The link for the same can be found here.
