Following this, Bren Esports’ support player, CJ “Ribo” Ribo, responded to the backlash on March 22, 2021, by slamming the match fixing allegations levied against him and his team and explained the reasons behind the disappointing performance in Week 1 of the MPL PH Season 7.
Bren Esports Ribo Speaks Out Against Match Fixing Allegations
After their 2-0 loss against Nexplay, Ribo posted on a now-deleted post on his social media handles, showing bundles of cash with the caption that translates to “EZ Money. Vacation again, HAHAHAHA it’s still too early anyways.”
This lead to a few fans in the MLBB community speculating that the money was from match fixing despite the majority recognizing that it was simply a joke.
The Bren Esports support was quick to remove the post and posted an explanation stating that the money actually came from their personal business with his girlfriend and will be used as payment for their new house. He then proceeds to state that whoever believes that they threw their matches for petty cash are fools.
“To those saying that we threw the game just for money, fools, we didn’t throw the match, we just lack practice,” stated Ribo in his Facebook post
“You guys are fools if you think we throw our games. Are we not allowed to lose?” stated Ribo added in his Facebook post.
Regardless, Bren Esports will be looking to make a strong comeback in the second week of the MPL PH Season 7. They will face AURA PH on March 27th 2021 and Execration on March 28th 2021.
