The resolution recognized Bren Esport’s achievements, especially in a time of temporary stagnation of several traditional athletic sports brought on by the pandemic. The resolution further states that both the lack of conventional sports and the rise of online streaming platforms have genuinely elevated the status of esports in the Philippines.

“As a rising industry which has been gaining popularity in an increasing number of countries, esports or competitive online gaming carries a lot of career opportunities and develops among its players the same athletic qualities of discipline, commitment, and professionalism,” Torres-Gomez said in the resolution.

The representative further stated that Bren’s victory, despite esports being relatively new in the country, could serve as inspiration for the youth to look forward to the possibility of exploring professional gaming as an alternative career.

The resolution was first reported by the Inquirer.net and then posted on Bren Esport’s official Facebook page, thanking Lucy Torres-Gomez for recognizing the esports team’s achievement.
