Chinese Call of Duty fans got a sweet Christmas present from Activision. Call of Duty: Mobile (CODM) was officially released in China on Dec. 25, 2020. The new server showcased a few features which are totally different from the global version. Here are the top 5 differences for China compared to the global version.
5. The Clown Class in Battle Royale
In the Chinese version of the game, the Toy Robot ability, which is exclusive to The Clown Battle Royale class, has been changed. Instead of summoning or attracting zombies, the ability now summons attack dogs and attack enemies within range.
It is debatable as to why the zombies were changed into attack dogs. Players speculate this is due to the strict regulations of China, forcing Activision to adjust in order to prevent problems when the game gets released.
4. Health and Armor System
The Interface for Health and Armor has been redesigned for the Chinese Battle Royale. The armor interface now has 3 bars. You can fill up these bars with armor plates. You can get armor plates inside buildings in the Battle Royale map or buying them in vending machines on certain locations around the map.
Similar to one of the popular COD Titles, Call of Duty Warzone, the new armor system allows players to instantly acquire armor and wear it without worrying about armor levels.
3. You Can Buyback Dead Teammates
This new revive feature in the Chinese version of the game allows you to use your acquired points to buyback your teammates from the dead. You can purchase buybacks in buy stations located on various locations of the Battle Royale map.
The buy stations also offer a wide variety of items like weapon mods, UAVs and self revive.
2. Guns Have Two Mods at the Same Time
Another Battle Royale feature added in the Chinese server is having two mods on your weapon loadout at the same time. This opens up a lot of possibilities and strategies for players to discover.
1. Gulag and Redeploy Feature
This is probably one of the most requested features for the game. Players have been asking for the Gulag and redeploy feature for quite some time now, and players might get their hands on the new content soon enough.
In Call of Duty: Warzone, players who died on the battlefield are sent to the Gulag. The Gulag is an arena where players have a chance to get redeployed to the main match by defeating players on a one-on-one battle.
This feature has been teased by Activision for quite some time now. They tweeted a short clip showing an area found in Call of Duty: Warzone’s map, Gulag. This hyped up a lot of players who were familiar with the map.
All these contents are currently available only in the Chinese server of CODM. It is still uncertain if these contents will be released in the global survey someday. Activision has yet to confirm these contents to be available soon, except the Gulag map which was already teased last March 2020.
