  • Wild Rift devs announced their big updates for the game this December.
  • Devs also talked about their plans for next year in Wild Rift.
  • New champions and events will be released in the next few weeks.

League of Legends: Wild Rift has just officially released in 8 more regions: Vietnam, Oceania, Taiwan, Europe, Turkey, Russia & CIS, Middle East, and North Africa. Along with the launch, Riot Games announced in their December Wild Rift Dev Diary video many big plans for Wild Rift.

Wild Rift New Event

A new event called “Noxian Brotherhood” featuring two new champions Darius and Draven. The event revolves around the two getting into a heated argument, and it is the player’s task to know what happens when two of Noxu’s prolific figures get into a quarrel. Finish event mission to know more about the story and earn in-game rewards such as profile icons, emotes, and more.

Finishing this event unlocks Darius and Draven for free, reducing the need to farm too much blue essence.

Confirmed Champion Release for Wild Rift

Many unofficial leaks have also hinted at new champions who might be released in Wild Rift soon. Riot Games has now officially announced three new champions, Darius, Draven, and Wukong.

Darius is the commander of the Noxian Army. He excels in the Baron lane as a melee fighter with his kit revolving around making enemies bleed to death. His ultimate gains more damage the more the enemy bleeds, and his ultimate skill’s cooldown resets whenever he executes enemy champions with it.

Draven, the glorious executioner, is Darius’ brother who is a marksman. He throws bouncing axes that he juggles around his enemies. He gains points for catching his axes before it falls to the ground and gains gold depending on how many successful juggles he made before killing an enemy champion.

Wukong, the monkey king will also be making a grand appearance in Wild Rift. Wukong is a fighter who can trick his opponents by leaving clones of himself as he becomes invisible for a short period. His playstyle revolves around catching his opponents off guard and sneaking into the backline where he can execute the most dangerous of glass cannons.

Beta Ranked Season and Official Ranked Season

The beta ranked season will come to an end soon, and Riot Games promised us rewards as a token for playing ranked games along with a lobby emblem for the highest rank you have attained this season.

A new season will start in January 2021. This will be an official ranked season meaning the rewards will be bigger and better than the beta-ranked season.

Wild Rift New Skins

Riot Games will also release New Skins along with the new champions. These include:

  • Queen Ashe
  • Steel Legion Garen
  • Academy Darius
  • Primetime Draven
  • High Noon Darius
  • Soul Reaver Draven
  • Volcanic Wukong

These skins come from the PC counterpart of Wild Rift and have been ported into the mobile game with much-polished detail and effects to fit into a mobile device’s capabilities.

The Battle of Baron Teaser

In celebration of Wild Rift’s launch in Vietnam, Oceania, Taiwan, Europe, Turkey, Russia & CIS, Middle East, and North Africa, Riot Games is doing something big.

The official Wild Rift Pages on Facebook has posted an image of Baron titled “The Battle of Baron,” with the caption “A YouTube Live Experience.” Fans caught up to this announcement and speculated that this would be a short film or animation for Wild Rift. Details about this event are yet to be announced. We’ll just have to keep our eyes peeled for upcoming updates regarding this announcement.

Looking Ahead of 2021

The devs also stated that they are thinking ahead for 2021. They plan to host simultaneous events, joint announcements, and shared thematic. The devs don’t want to spoil too much about the events, but we can expect to hear more in January next year alongside the official Ranked Season for Wild Rift.

They also hinted that they would be releasing some of the most popular champions in League of Legends into Wild Rift on one of their biggest events so far in just a few weeks. A hint about Teemo scheming on something was also revealed, along with the statement that some of his “friends” may join him.
