  • Godlike wins opening week of PMPL South Asia.
  • Orange Rock picked up chicken dinners in 3 out of 5 games on the final day, but were unable to close the gap at the top.

An absolutely dominating performance by Orange Rock on the final day of week 1 meant that the team were able to put immense pressure on the table toppers Godlike, but in the end, Kronten and gang held onto to the top spot and are the week 1 leaders. A disappointing final day from TSM-Entity saw them slip from 1st to 3rd as the team were unable to find that form which has seen them to the top of everyone’s picks.

Meanwhile, Godlike showed incredible consistency and understanding in how to play this long drawn out format, biding their time and grabbing clutch points whenever and wherever possible. Week 1 of PMPL South Asia may have taken over 2 months to complete due to the lockdown, but the opening week has delivered in terms of both action and excitement. Orange Rock kept things real tight on the final day picking up a mind numbing 3 chicken dinners in 5 games, but Godlike themselves stayed in the top 5 in all of the games and picked up 1 win as well.

Additionally, Godlike’s 99 kills in 16 games will be the highest for the week, and allows the team to finish ahead of OR with a 14 point lead. TSM-Entity may have been leading the charts till the final day, but a disastrous sequence of games sees the team trail the toppers by a full 60 points. SynerGE, UMumba and the ever consistent Team IND take the 4th, 5th and 6th spots followed by VSG Crawlers, Fnatic and Soul.

The bottom half of the table is entirely dominated by teams from Nepal and Bangladesh all of whom are in the 16th-20th position on the table. In terms of kills, Godlike’s SmxkieOP leads the charts with 28 to his name, followed by the deadly due from TSM-Entity, Neyoo and Jonathan. OR’s Mavi and Daljitsk round up the top 5 fraggers list. While the opening week is certainly not the be all and end all of the competition, it sets a precedent for the rest of the weeks. With 3 more weeks of league play remaining, anything can happen and with the top three teams moving onto the World League, the stakes couldn't be any higher.
