  • Team Secret top the table after Day 1 of PMPL Thailand Finals.
  • League stage winners, Bapak Ah Esports struggling in bottom place.

Day 1 of the PMPL MYSG Finals saw a very familiar story that we’ve seen across past PMPLs. The team who performed exceptionally well in the league stage - Bapak Ah Esports is now struggling in the bottom position with just 17 points in 6 games. Earlier in Thailand, both RRQ Athena and Faze Clan struggled in the PMPL Thailand Finals after a good run in the league stage.

However, one team who did have a great opening day were Team Secret, who started and finished the day off with chicken dinners to end the day in 1st place. Just 15 points behind is a roster featuring former Secret players, Stewart9k and SinB in No Recoil. And finally rounding up the top 3 is Yoodo Gank, an incredibly consistent Malaysian team who has represented the region internationally as well.

While the day 1 performance may not be everything, but it is a clear indicator of how little the league stage means in the overall scheme of things. Only the top 3 teams from PMPL MYSG will advance to the next stage with all 3 teams getting a spot in the SEA Finals and the winning team getting a confirmed spot in the World League. With 2 more days of action remaining, a lot can change as the action continues tomorrow.
