While most people are aware of the fact that SEA is a strong region, the PMCO Fall Championship Prelims proved this point without a shadow of a doubt. Out of the 16 teams playing in the Prelims stage, the 3 teams who finished on top are all from SEA and will be making it to the main event. This means a total of 6 out of 16 teams at the Fall Championship finals will be from SEA. While Illuminate, RRQ Athena and Yoodo Gank had qualified directly, Bigetron, MEGA.Conqueror and Orange Esports made it via the Prelims.

Orange Esports clutch out last match decider

The Prelims lasted a total of 4 days as a total of 18 maps was played out to decide the top 3 teams. However by the time the final map kicked off, 6 teams had a realistic shot to secure the third and final spot in the main event. Tempo Storm, GoSkilla, OMEN Elite, Orange Esports, Team IND and Asterion were all in contention but it was the Cambodian side, Orange who came out good in the clutch. A 7 kill WWCD allowed them to finish the Prelims stage with a 6 point cushion.

Bigetron and MEGA.Conqueror finish miles ahead

Elsewhere, the top two teams were in no danger as they kept picking up consistent points throughout the 3 days, including 4 chicken dinners each. While Thailand’s MEGA finished a whopping 50+ points ahead of Bigetron, the Indonesian team themselves had a near 90 point lead over third placed Orange Esports. The entire chain of events shows just how far ahead SEA teams are.

Indian teams fall flat in Prelims phase

Just like SEA, three Indian teams were also playing in the Prelims phase but a paltry 8th place  is the highest they could manage. Team IND looked like the most likely candidates and were in the fight till the last phases, but were unable to perform under pressure. Team INS and SynerGE meanwhile finished in 13th and 10th place respectively. This leaves Entity Gaming and SouL, who are in the main event to do their best to represent the region.
