Warriors from Ionia are known as Ionian Champions in League of Legends: Wild Rift, according to the game's lore. Ionia is usually inhabited by people who are seeking peace and harmony. Everything changed, however, when Darius and the Noxian Army invaded, causing chaos and disruption in the region. Many forms of dark arts have started emerging in the Ionian region, and the Noxian army has become a source of unquenchable hatred. Ionian Champions have since emerged determined to overthrow the Noxus empire and reclaim their homeland.

What is Ionia in Wild Rift

As a region surrounded by massive bodies of water, Ionia is comprised of a number of allied provinces spread across the First Lands, a collection of massive islands.

There is now a division in beliefs among the inhabitants. Many of the nation's citizens prefer to remain pacifists, but others want to regain Ionia by using the land's magic and military power.

Ionian Champions in Wild Rift

Currently, there are 13 Ionian champions in Wild Rift. This includes the newly released champion Irelia, the Blade Dancer. Here is the complete list of champions;

Ahri

Ahri is a Vastayan champion who has ties with Ionia. She enjoys toying with her prey by manipulating their emotions before devouring their life essence.

Akali

Akali is one of the Ionian champions in Wild Rift that is skilled in ninja arts. After abandoning her clan along with her title of the Fist of Shadow, she has pledged to defend Ionia from its enemies, one kill at a time.

Irelia

Irelia Splash ArtTrained in the arts of her province, Irelia adapted her art for war, using the graceful and carefully practiced movements to levitate a host of deadly blades. Now using her talents to defend her land.

Jhin

Once an Ionian serial killer prisoner, Jhin was freed by shadowy elements within Ionia's ruling council, now working as their assassin.

Kennen

Kennen Splash ArtOut of all the Ionian champions in Wild Rift, Kennen is the only Yordle member of the clan known as Kinkou. Despite being small, he is eager to take on any threat with lightning speed and her wide array of shurikens.

Lee Sin

A master of Ionia's ancient martial arts, Lee Sin is a well-disciplined fighter who channels the essence of the dragon spirit to overcome any challenge.

Master Yi

Master Yi only uses violence as a last resort. And when he does, the grace and speed of his blade ensure resolution is always swift. As one of the last living practitioners of the Ionian art of Wuju, Yi has devoted his life to continuing the legacy of his people

Rakan

Rakan is one of the Ionian champions in Wild Rift that are vastayan. He is a troublemaker and the greatest battle dancer in the land. He is also the partner of the rebel Xayah.

Varus

Varus is a deadly killer who loved to torment his foes, driving them almost to insanity before killing them.

Wukong

Yasuo

A warrior who was falsely accused of murdering his master due to a freak accident. Unable to prove his innocence, he was forced to slay his own brother in self-defense.

Zed

Zed is the leader of the Order of Shadow, an organization he created with the intent of militarizing Ionia's magical and martial traditions to drive out Noxian invaders.

Wild Rift is definitely rich in lore. The land of Ionia is just one of the few places in the League of Legends universe known as Runeterra.
