The Funnel Strategy is one of the more common tactics used by high ranked players in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang (Mobile Legends). In fact, it is one of Bren Esports’ most used strategies where KarlTzy (the hard carry) receives a ton of resources offered by his teammates and utilizes it to dominate the game to carry his team to victory. The funnel strategy is a high-risk strategy considering that if your hard carry fails to dominate in the match, the team is left with nothing and will eventually lose. However, if the players manage to pull it off, you are almost guaranteed a win. But the question is, what is the Funnel Strategy, and how does it work? Here is an explanation about this unique strategy and how you can apply it in Mobile Legends.

Funnel Strategy Explained
This strategy revolves around giving most of the resources to a hard carry to help him reach his maximum potential as fast as possible.
The simplest way of doing the Funnel Strategy is to have a Support/Mage take the mid lane and have the Hard Carry farm in the jungle. The Support/Mage will hold the creep wave for as long as he can until the Hard Carry finishes his jungle rotation and starts clearing the mid lane wave.
There are other variations of this strategy. The most popular being the 1-3-1 strategy, where the mid lane will have a Support and a Tank to hold the lane while the Hard Carry visits mid lane to clear creep waves between his jungle rotations.
How to Use the 1-3-1 Funnel Strategy
We’ll use the popular 1-3-1 strategy as an example, with one hero in the top, three in the mid lane, and one hero in the bottom lane. This strategy works best in a 5-man party since proper communication is needed to accomplish the goal.
Heroes to use:
Top and Bottom Lane:
- Assassins: Benedetta, Lancelot, Helcurt, Hayabusa, Guison
- Or Fighters: Chou, Paquito, Jawhead, Yu Zhong, Lapu-Lapu
Mid Lane:
- Hard Carry: Claude, Brody, Wanwan, Yi Sun-shin
- Support/Mage: Esmeralda, Angela, Chang’e, Mathilda
- Tanks: Franco, Barats, Atlas
Gameplay:
The tank and the carry will clear jungle camps while the support will hold mid lane and harass the enemy. The carry should take all the last hits in the jungle to quickly reach level 4 and start ganking other lanes.
Once the carry gets his ultimate skill, the trio will then proceed to gank other lanes when possible. The carry can engage way better because he has both the support and tank to help him initiate. Remember to push turrets if you have a chance to pressure the enemy team and force them to farm outside their turrets just to get gold and exp.
Take note of the Turtle and Lord spawn times. If your funnel strategy is a success, your team will have full control of the map. So you can secure these objectives with ease. Taking these objectives whenever they appear will allow you to keep the enemy from making a comeback and likely guarantee you a win.
