Valorant's release date is different for multiple regions but the game has been available in all countries except China since June 2, 2020.
The game did not have an open beta and Riot Games chose to promote closed beta keys via Twitch streams to generate hype.
Vietnam is the latest region to get an official launch with the game releasing in the region earlier this month.

If you are wondering when was Valorant released, the answer can be quite complicated. Similar to its latest game Wild Rift, the 5v5 shooter went through multiple regional releases before it became available globally. When Valorant released, the entire FPS community was excited to try out Riot Games’ new shooter as it was a break from all the battle royale games most developers were investing into. Here is a look at when Valorant was released including its closed and open betas. Since its release, the game has been doing very well with timely updates, a great anti-cheat and a growing esports ecosystem.

When Was Valorant Released? Closed Beta Release Date

Valorant received a closed beta starting April 7. The first wave of players who got to experience the game were very impressed with how Riot Games managed to bring a great competitive experience to the masses for free.

The closed beta was limited to Europe, Canada, United States, Turkey, Russia and CIS countries. Riot Games revealed that it was unable to release the game to more regions due to the “volatile logistics of launching a beta effectively during a global pandemic.”

When Was Valorant Released? Open Beta Release Date

The game did not have an open beta that was accessible to all players. There was only one closed beta with players getting keys from Twitch streams. The limited availability of the keys created an artificial scarcity with some fans spending hours on streams hoping to get a key. It also led to a lot of clickbaiting on Twitch and a marketplace for keys so players could try out the game.

The viewership on Twitch spiked up so high that it almost League of Legends’ Worlds event’s viewer count. Riot Games chose not to have an open beta and directly launched the game in most regions.

When Was Valorant Released?
