Astra is Valorant’s new agent in the Controller class and her kit brings some game-changing abilities to Riot’s shooter. While the developers did say that you need a galaxy brain to be adept with her, the agent is not that complicated once you get used to how her abilities work. We are just two days away from the release of the new agent so you can check out our guide and find out how to play the new Controller. Here is a quick rundown of how you should approach combat with Astra and how you can make the most out of Valorant’s new agent.
Astral Form and Stars
Astra’s Astral form is what makes the new Valorant agent stand out from the rest of the cast. You get access to a top-down view of the map and travel anywhere to put down your Stars. This works only on flat surfaces. The stars allow her to use abilities and instead of purchasing abilities like other agents, you can purchase stars. This makes her much more versatile compared to other agents since you can choose which ability you want to use on the fly.
How to Use Astra’s Stars
Once you play a star with Valorant’s new agent you get to choose from Gravity Well, Nova Pulse and Nebula. Here is a rundown of the three core abilities:
GRAVITY WELL (C): Place Stars in Astral Form (X). Activates a Star to form a Gravity Well. Players in the area are pulled toward the centre before it explodes, making all players still trapped inside fragile.
NOVA PULSE (Q): Place Stars in Astral Form (X). Activates a Star to detonate a Nova Pulse. The Nova Pulse charges briefly then strikes, concussing all players in its area.
NEBULA (E): Places Stars in Astral Form (X). Activates a Star to transform it into a Nebula (smoke).
DISSIPATE (F): Use (F) on a Star to Dissipate it, returning the star to be placed in a new location after a delay. Dissipate briefly forms a fake Nebula at the Star’s location before returning.
How to Use Astra’s Ultimate
To use the ultimate ability of Valorant’s new agent you can enter astral form and switch to cosmic divide. Left click twice to determine which direction you want the cosmic divide to go. The wall is capable of blocking bullets and dampening audio. Players can move through the wall but not bullets.
