Evil Geniuses is one of the oldest esports organizations that has found success in DOTA 2, League of Legends, CS:GO, and fighting games. They are set to debut Riot’s successful shooter, Valorant, today at the NA Champions Tour qualifier. Team captain “potter, is leading the mixed-gender roster,” and they will be looking to leave an impact in the year-long esports event.
Evil Geniuses’ Valorant Roster Overview
EG’s director of esports Greg Kim stated, "When we entered, we really wanted it to be in our way and not just to purchase a team and to bring in five folks from another roster. When we heard potter was looking into VALORANT, that just seemed like a natural starting point for us." The team told Dot Esports that they wanted to build their own team instead of bringing a roster from another organization.
The roster includes:
- Potter
- Temperature
- Clawdia
- Osias
- Aleksandar
The team is set to run a triple duelist comp with Potter and Temperature taking on sentinel and initiator roles. Potter and clawdia played together in amateur team GX3 before joining EG. Osias was originally part of the North American amateur scene before signing up with Mamba Gaming, a team that disbanded following its CEO's disappearance. Clawdia is not just a player but also a popular streamer with four accounts in Radiant in Valorant. Joining them will be Aleksandar, who is also a pro player and streamer. The roster was built by Potter, who is the captain of the Evil Geniuses Valorant roster.
Potter revealed, "Evil Geniuses approached me with the opportunity to create something special and help define the emerging VALORANT scene. We've put together an amazing squad of veterans and young guns, and I think we're going to surprise a lot of people."
To keep the news under wraps, the team registered themselves as Diabolical Masterminds, a pseudonym for Evil Geniuses. Still, they will be using the proper title for the rest of the Valorant Champions Tour. This is one of the biggest roster announcements of this week, with their rivals OG reported being stepping into the Valorant scene as well. The International champions from 2018 and 2019 are reportedly signing the Monkey Business roster featuring ex-Overwatch and CS:GO pros. We can expect rivalry between EG and OG to transition from DOTA 2 to Valorant in 2021.
