Team SMG took down Team nxl at the Cyber Games Arena Pacific Open+ Valorant event. The team have a 9-1 record at the playoffs, dropping only one map at the playoffs. They will be taking $8,000 as prize money.
Team SMG vs Team nxl
Team SMG and Team nxl faced off in a best-of-5 set at the grand finals which ended in a one-sided three-map victory for Team SMG. The team won 13-9 on Split, 13-10 on Icebox and 13-5 on Bind. Team nxl will be taking home $5,000 for becoming the runners-up.
Cyber Games Arena Pacific Open+ Overview
Riot Games in partnership with Cyber Games arena hosted the Pacific Open+. The original Cyber Games Arena event in 2020 was highly successful which led to the new series featuring the best teams from the APAC region. The tournament saw teams from SEA, Hong Kong and Taiwan compete against each other.
The tournament kicked off on 16th January 2021 with 14 teams emerging victorious from the regional qualifiers along with two invited teams. The total prize pool for the event was set at $15,000. Foxy Araikordai and Five Ace Esports were the two invited teams who made it to the event.
Invited team Foxy Araikordai was formerly Attack All Around up until recently with the roster moving away from the brand and becoming a party of Foxy Gaming. Five Ace Esports is a Taiwanese team that competes in multiple esports titles.
The participants at the event will face off once again once the qualifiers for Riot’s Valorant Champions Tour kicks off this month for the SEA region. The event will offer a platform for the best teams across the globe to be a part of the year-long global championship.
