Velocity Gaming has been crowned champions at The Esports Club Valorant Challenger Series 5. Amaterasu, Rite2Ace, Antidote, Vibhor, Hellfighter, and Excali went up against Global Esports and beat them 3-1 at the grand finals. GE and VLT are two of the biggest teams in the Indian Valorant esports scene, and the conclusion of the event marks VLT’s 100% winrate all iterations of the Challenger Series in 2020.
Velocity Gaming Have Won Four Out of Four Valorant Challenger Series
Velocity Gaming has participated in four Challenger Series tournaments and has won all of them. The team did not participate in Challenger Series 3, which was won by Team Tamilas. VLT is consistently among the top 5 Valorant teams in the Asia-Pacific region.
In yesterday’s Valorant Challenger Series matches, VLT and GE faced off in Icebox to kick things off, where Velocity lost their first match. Global Esports took the win with a clean 13-4 victory on the map. However, the gears quickly shifted in VLT’s favor, with the team picking up wins on three maps back-to-back. They won 14-12 on Ascent, 13-9 on Split, and 13-6 on Haven. After beating their opponents 3-1, Velocity’s Amaterasu revealed that he does not intend to retire before picking up an international trophy in Valorant.
TEC Valorant Challenger Series Overview

The TEC Challenger Series is a seasonal tournament that saw five tournaments being played since Valorant’s release this year. It features some of the most prominent teams in the region, like XTZ Esports, Godlike Esports, Global Esports, and Velocity Gaming. VLT faced off against Global Esports at the upper bracket finals and beat them 2-0 before facing them again at the grand finals.
After the tournament win, Velocity Gaming announced that they are rebranding to Team Mahi. On their official social media handle, they revealed, “We are now Team Mahi. It's been a great journey for us as Velocity Gaming, the amount of support for us the community has shown! Hope you all shower your love and support us as Team Mahi also.”
The team is also representing themselves as Team Hyderabad at the Sky Esports tournament 2020 and are set to face Team Bengaluru on December 26 for a spot at the grand finals. They are currently #3 on the Asia-Pacific rankings on vlr.gg and are behind First Strike Japan winners Absolute JUPITER and First Strike Indonesia runner-up Alter Ego.
