The Game Awards is making a return this year in an online-only format.
The event will be hosted live on December 11th at 8:00 AM SGT / 5:30 AM IST.
Viewers can catch it live on Twitch, MTV India, Hotstar/Disney+, MX Player, VOOT, Airtel, Jio TV and YouTube Gaming.

The Game Awards is making a return this year but in a different format. Due to the global pandemic, the event will be hosted online. The awards show will showcase not only the best works produced in the gaming industry in the past year but also highlight achievements in the esports community. We can also expect some big titles to be announced during the event from the likes of Microsoft, Sony, and Nintendo. The event will be streamed live on popular platforms, and multiple Indian platforms have also been shortlisted this year as streaming partners. Indian fans can watch the event live on MTV India, Hotstar/Disney+, MX Player, VOOT, Airtel, Jio TV, YouTube Gaming (in Hindi), and Twitch.

The Game Awards is an event conceptualized by Geoff Keighley in 2014. The show’s viewership has grown from 1.9 Million in 2014 to 49 Million in 2019. The Canadian journalist has partnered with multiple publications, content creators, and developers to host the show in the past years. Winners are decided by the jury and fans via a voting system. This year’s event will be streamed live on December 11th at 8:00 AM SGT / 5:30 AM IST.

Game of the year nominees for this year at The Game Awards includes Hades, DOOM Eternal, Ghosts of Tsushima, Animal Crossing, The Last of Us II, and Final Fantasy VII Remake. San Francisco Shock had a fantastic year with the team winning the Overwatch League championship for the second time in a row. But fans are expecting Team Secret to take home the award because of the organization taking home winning eight tournaments back-to-back, a feat that is unmatched in any esport this year.

Call of Duty, Counter-Strike, Fortnite, and League of Legends are regulars in the nominations list but this year, we have Riot’s new game Valorant earning a spot for the award. The new release has caused ripples in the esports industry, and Riot is just getting started with the developers trying to turn it into a title that is successful for at least a decade.
