A game-breaking bug was discovered by Riot, causing the Valorant dev team to disable Killjoy in-game. The developers are currently working on a fix, and there is no word on when the agent will be enabled again. The bug in question allows players to place turrets below the maps which caused players to exploit the unintended mechanic in matches.
Killjoy’s Turret Bug Explained
Killjoy players were able to protect bombsites or zone out any part of the map without letting enemies see her turret. The bug was posted online by many players on social media websites and the official forums. It turns out that the exploit was specific to a spot in Haven. In the Garage area, placing a turret underground would enable players to zone opponents out. While there is counterplay to the exploit, the Valorant developers decided to disable the agent temporarily.
This is not the first time that such an exploit has been discovered by the Valorant community. There was a very similar bug discovered on Icebox in October and another instance of the same bug on Split in August. There is an underlying issue with the agent, and Riot Games will most likely issue a permanent fix to prevent further exploits. The Valorant team posted on Twitter, “You might have heard about Killjoy's newest ability - placing turrets under the map. Believe it or not, this update was not intended. We'll be disabling Killjoy until we can patch this exploit.”
Will Killjoy Be Available in the Upcoming Valorant First Strike Finals?
Killjoy might not be available in the upcoming Valorant First Strike finals, and teams participating will need to rethink their strategies if they intended to make use of the agent. Unless Riot offers a fix by December 3, the agent will remain disabled for the entirety of the First Strike Finals.
Earlier this year, Riot announced an upcoming feature that would allow professional teams and tournament organisers to host games on custom patches. But with the feature still being in testing and development, players at the First Strike finals will not be able to revert to an older patch and make use of the agent. Killjoy currently has the highest win rate in Valorant but at a mediocre pickrate. While she is not the most viable character in professional play, she does receive a spotlight in pro matches fairly often.
