  • Dele Alli from Tottenham Hotspur FC will be joining EXCEL Esports as a global ambassador.
  • He will be responsible for training and working with esports stars including Fortnite pro Wolfiez.
  • The role is part-time as of now but he may move to a full-time role in esports in the future.

Tottenham Hotspur star Dele Alli announced his new role as a global ambassador for EXCEL Esports. The footballer will work with Excel’s roster personally and help digital athletes develop a strong psychological foundation and deal with pressure. Alli is no stranger to dealing with setbacks and bouncing back from pressure, and he will be sharing his experience with players. In return, Alli will get to experience how esports brands operate and potentially make a move to PC gaming.

Dele Alli Will Be Working Closely With Pro Players at EXCEL Esports

EXCEL Esports features top Fortnite pros like Jaden “Wolfiez” Ashman

One of the players who will be working with Dele is Jaden “Wolfiez” Ashman, who is currently the top Fortnite player in the UK. Wolfiez was the youngest player ever to win $1 Million at a single esports tournament. He was the runner up at the 2019 Fortnite World Cup at just 16 and joined EXCEL Esports in May 2020.

The 24-year old Tottenham Hotspur star is not the first high-profile footballer to make it to esports. Gareth Bale, David Beckham, Mesut Özil and Sergio Agüero are just a handful of footballers invested in esports. Dele revealed that his first time playing a video game was actually not on a virtual football pitch. In fact, his first tryst with video games was Mario Kart on a Nintendo GameCube. He revealed that he always wanted to beat his fastest laps in the game. He moved on to newer consoles over time, but he hasn’t delved too deep into PC gaming just yet. His new role at EXCEL Esports might give him more time to play his favourite games.

Dele And His Passion for Gaming

Dele talked about how gaming has always been his second passion after football. Currently, his favourite gaming title is Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War. Before COD he invested time into NBA 2K and Fortnite, but he has enjoyed Cold War the most among the three. He will get a lot more hands-on time with games at EXCEL Esports as the new global ambassador.

Dele has not shied away from showing his love for gaming on the pitch. On April 21, 2108, he performed the iconic floss dance popularized by Fortnite after scoring a goal against Manchester United in the FA Cup semi-final. He loved the crowd’s reaction to the dance. Since that moment he keeps getting his younger fans to remark on his “Fortnite dance”.

He revealed the worst footballer he has seen playing video games is Kieran Trippier. The ex-Tottenham star is apparently not any good at video games. Dele revealed that Harry Kane used to play a lot together, but with family responsibilities getting in the way, they do not get time for their Fortnite sessions anymore. EXCEL Esports will definitely be happy to have someone who loves gaming as much as Dele being their global ambassador.
