Twitch, the US-based live streaming platform is being arbitrarily blocked by some of India’s biggest ISPs including Jio, Jio Fiber, and Hathway. Users reported being unable to access the website via their PCs and smartphones, specifically around the time of the Indian Premier League (IPL) broadcast.

Twitch Has Been Blocked on Reliance Jio Networks
Users have arbitrarily encountered network errors when attempting to view Twitch streams during a particular timeframe which coincides with the broadcast of the IPL cricket tournament, over the past week. AFK Gaming was able to spot an illegal stream of IPL on Twitch during this timeframe.

Following this development, several users and content creators took to social media platforms, expressing outrage against this move by Reliance Jio.
Jio’s Relationship with IPL 2020
Currently, the IPL 2020 is officially being broadcasted only via the Star Sports network and on Hotstar in India. Reliance Jio recently partnered with Disney+ Hotstar to offer the ‘VIP plan’ (which includes IPL 2020) complimentary with select recharges to customers. Mumbai Indians (an IPL team) is owned by Reliance Industries, through its 100% subsidiary IndiaWin Sports. Jio/Jio Digital life also individually sponsors all eight teams in the IPL 2020.
