  • Shroud, Skadoodle, Summit1g, Fl0m and Dizzy took on Valorant Devs in a Showmatch
  • Devs beat the streamers convincingly

The Valorant hype train continues to chug along with yet another showmatch that we witnessed earlier today. The Valorant dev team took on some of the biggest names in the world of FPS games, beating them convincingly. The streamer team consisting of names like Shroud, Skadoodle, Summit1g, Fl0m and Dizzy are some of the most skilled players across FPS titles, having dominated titles such as CSGO, Apex Legends, PUBG, Escape from Tarkov and others. Just their presence in the server is enough to strike fear into the hearts of gamers but the devs were the ones who made the ex-pros look foolish, as they took them down 26-7.

Always exciting to see the former Cloud9 teammates team up

Granted that the devs have been playing the game much longer than anyone else and have exclusive knowledge of mechanics and design that no one else is privy to. Nonetheless, taking down a all star roster of talented FPS specialists is still commendable. Game 1 was on a map called Bind and it was a complete wipeout as the Devs cleaned house with a 13-3 scoreline. In the second game, on Haven, the streamers were able to put up a better fight, but still went down 13-5. The third game was on Split where the devs again reigned supreme with a 13-2 scoreline.

Summit1g did have some critique to offer after the defeat; Riot has responded saying they will look at the character to see if he can be balanced better

One thing is to be noted however is that 3 of the players on the dev team are ex CS 1.6 pros and not just some random gamers. Of course the result is unsurprising as the devs have much more knowledge of the map, the meta and how to synergize the skills when compared to the players. However, it was a very unique experience and shows that there is a quite a bit of balance in the game. The fact that just having raw aim doesn't necessarily translate to wins was evident as the Valorant had a few strats and executes in their game. It's also great to see the focus on good content right from the bat as it is one of the key factors that will drive the game's popularity.
