The Omega League marked the end of a non-stop stretch of Online Dota 2 tournaments where Dota 2 fans were treated to some top-notch games at every turn. However, a few in the Dota 2 community were worried that there were no premiere Dota 2 tournaments scheduled after the conclusion of the Omega League.

Valve reassured us that several tournaments were being planned and would be announced shortly. Well it looks like we finally have some clarity on the tournaments that are currently being scheduled and due to take place in the near future.

Chinese LAN Tournament: China Dota 2 Pro Cup Season 1

Chinese tournament organizer ImbaTV has just announced the first LAN tournament since the pandemic hit. The China Dota2 Pro Cup Season 1 featuring an $80,000 USD prize pool, will see some of the top teams in the region including Vici Gaming, PSG.LGD, RNG, and Team Aster compete in this tournament.

10 teams (8 invited, 2 through qualifiers) will compete in this tournament which kicks off its Group Stages on September 17th. The group stages will take place until September 28th after which the playoffs will take place.

Surprisingly, the playoffs of the tournament will take place from September 29th - October 1st, in a LAN setting. ImbaTV also confirmed that about 100 to 200 audience members will be allowed into the arena.

OGA Dota PIT Season 3: Europe/CIS and China

The Dota 2 client indicates that the tournament will take place from September 20th-26th and will feature a whopping $175,000 prize pool for Europe/CIS. For the Chinese region, the tournament will take place from September 29th-October 8th with a prize pool of $90,000.

JJB Esports League Asia: China and SEA

Not much is known about this tournament except for the fact that it will feature a $50,000 prize pool and that both Chinese and SEA teams will compete in this event.

Top Clans 2020

The Top Clans 2020: SEA Invitational will be hosted by NetEase and features a $20,000 prize pool. 8 teams from the SEA region will be invited to compete in this tournament.

There are a lot more tournaments like Funsport Championship Europe, Funsport Championship America, Vita Bona Cup SEA, Freewin Invitational SA, Freewin Invitational EU that have been listed in the Dota 2 client. It will be interesting to see which teams compete in these events.

We also believe that the tournaments that Valve had promised to reach out to and offer “financial support in order to be able to create increased coverage globally for the remainder of the year” have not yet been announced.
