  • Virtus.Pro carry iLTW destroyed his items and made some toxic comments against Xcalibur in a pub game earlier yesterday.
  • His actions were universally condemned by the CIS Dota 2 community.
  • Virtus.Pro announced that they will fine the player for these actions.

Igor "iLTW" Filatov was spotted making some toxic comments against former B8 Esports carry Steve "Xcalibur" Ye in a pub game, yesterday. After he felt that his teammates were farming too much, he went on to destroy his items and verbally abuse Xcalibur.

He threw a slew of slurs at Xcalibur and then typed “Streamer go stream. Idiot”.

CIS Esports Community Reaction

iLTW's toxicity was almost universally bashed by the Dota 2 community. This lead to several popular members of the CIS Dota 2 community making some comments on his toxicity.

For instance, Ukrainian CS:GO commentator Alexander "Enkanis" Polischuk commented on this stating that:

“In modern esports, there are not enough fines and ‘measures’ to demonstrate the unacceptability of the toxic behaviour of players. This is not only a display of disrespect for other players, their work and their organization but also discrediting the whole industry. It's not trash-talking, it's just childlike behaviour.”

While Dota 2 analyst Yaroslav Vladimirovich "NS" Kuznetsov said that everyone will have a terrible match at some point but that is not enough of a reason for toxic behaviour.

Virtus.Pro Takes Action

Virtus.Pro has stated that they will be fining the player and strengthen measures to prevent this from happening in the future.

"Tonight, the Dota 2 community witnessed unacceptable public behaviour by our player  Igor "iLTW" Filatov. We want to apologize to Steve "Xcalibur" Ye for the insults. The player will be fined and we will strengthen measures to prevent this behaviour from happening again."

Pro players acting entitled and destroying items when things don’t go their way in pub games isn’t anything new in the Dota 2 scene. Several including Jacky "EternaLEnVy" Mao and Vladimir "No[o]ne" Minenko have gained a notorious reputation for this.

However, it is refreshing to see the player's organization take notice of the toxicity and punish them promptly.
