  • Nigma, OG and OG.Seed were knocked out of the WePlay Pushka League in the Group Stages.
  • Nigma and OG had to play with significant ping disadvantages.
  • Secret, NiP, Alliance and Team Liquid are the 4 European teams who have qualified for the playoffs

Colour us surprised! Two of the best teams in the European region: Nigma and OG, the two TI9 finalists have been knocked out of the group stages of the WePlay! Pushka League after some abysmal results.

However, there are a few reasons that’ll somewhat explain this sudden dip in performance.

Ping Disadvantages

Both teams were at a significant disadvantage considering the fact that their players don’t really have the best latency to the European servers.

OG:

OG had to have SumaiL connect from his home at the United States while MidOne had to connect from SEA which causes significant latency, making them play in suboptimal conditions.

Nigma

KuroKy had to connect from Egypt, while the rest of his teammates had to connect from their Middle Eastern countries which also caused Nigma significant disadvantage.

The Playoffs

The rise of the new NiP lineup (ex-Chicken Fighters) has made the EU Dota 2 scene significantly stronger with so many top tier teams. Teams will have to been tip-top shape to compete and hold their own in the stacked region.

So Alliance, Team Liquid, Team Secret and Ninjas in Pyjamas are the 4 teams from Europe who have qualified for the playoffs.

In the CIS region, Na’Vi, VP.Prodigy and Hellraisers have already qualified for the playoffs leaving just one spot unoccupied.
