No SumaiL was not Throwing Shade at Arteezy

Earlier today, popular OG player Syed Sumail "SumaiL" Hassan streamed on Twitch for the first time in weeks. He revealed that he hit 10k MMR.

The player also changed his name to “You're the problem, 0 LAN Wins. 10k Ego”.

Many from the Dota 2 community presumed that SumaiL was calling out former teammate Artour "Arteezy" Babaev and popularised this on social media platforms.

There are two issues with this assumption.

  • 10k ego is not the same thing as 10k MMR. So using the ‘10k’ wording as a reason to point out that he was referring to Arteezy or any other 10k MMR players just seems amiss.

  • Although Arteezy has not won a Major or a TI, the player has won multiple LAN championships including 4 in a row with Team Secret before The International 5.

So we presumed that he couldn’t be the one that SumaiL was referring to. And SumaiL confirmed this as well.

He stated that

“This (name change) was about random pub players in NA and being super arrogant in these pub games. Somehow people made it out to be about Artour (Arteezy), while we’re really chill now.

I just wanted to get this straight. Peace.”

We’re glad that SumaiL clarified this and confirmed our assumptions.
