The MDL: Chengdu Major Champs can now only make it to the 3rd Major of the season by winning the StarLadder ImbaTV Dota 2 Minor Season 3 SEA Qualifier and then winning the Minor itself.

This will certainly be a disappointment for TNC Predator and their fans, considering the calibre of their players and their achievements earlier this season. The team will still need to win their upcoming series against Reality Rift to guarantee a spot in the Minor Qualifiers.

The four teams that will be competing for the three spots in the Major Playoffs will be Geek Fam, Fnatic, Team Adroit and Mushi’s IO Dota 2.

This is certainly an interesting mix of teams and is overall better for the scene as it allows more chances for SEA teams to fight for DPC points, to receive a direct invite for The International 10. Last season, only two SEA teams: TNC Predator and Fnatic received a direct invite to TI9.
