ESL One Los Angeles 2020 Major Chinese Qualifiers Postponed Amidst Coronavirus Outbreak
The Chinese Open Qualifiers for the ESL One Los Angeles 2020 Major has been rescheduled from February 7th to 12th due to the coronavirus outbreak in the region. This was reportedly announced to the teams by the organizer of the qualifiers, Huomao TV. ESL this by changing the dates on the official website.
The closed qualifiers will be held from February 14 to 17.
However, since flights to and from China have been cancelled by a majority of the countries in Europe and USA for the foreseeable future, Chinese teams may find it hard-pressed to compete in the actual LAN tournament. The Wuhan Coronavirus has already infected over 20,000 Chinese citizens and has claimed the lives of 493.
Several esports tournaments and qualifiers have been cancelled as a result of the coronavirus over the last few weeks. Events such as the Chinese Qualifiers of PUBG Global Series: Berlin, Chinese Overwatch League matches, games of the Chinese LPL Spring 2020 championship, WESG 2020 APAC finals, Taipei Game Show and Hainan Master Invitational.
