The two strongest SEA teams of the previous season, look like they’re on a course to repeat their achievements from last season. TNC Predator and Fnatic became the first two SEA teams to qualify for the MDL: Chengdu Major after they managed to win their playoff matches earlier today.

Fnatic

After their 1st place finish in Group A, Fnatic had to face Cignal Ultra in their deciding game. The SEA powerhouse dominated the series right from the get-go, easily securing Game 1 in just under 50 minutes thanks to a commanding performance by Moon on his Ember Spirit.

Game 2 was even more one-sided. Fnatic picked an Anti Mage for 23savage, who opted to forgo a Battlefury and instead rely on iceiceice’s Magnus for cleave. This move paid off as he was able to hit his Manta Style, Eye of Skadi timings much faster and closed out the game in just over 30 minutes to give Fnatic a 2-0 victory.

TNC Predator

TNC Predator faced off against Team Adroit in their deciding game for the MDL: Chengdu Major spot. Team Adroit started the series on the front foot by taking the first game with an explosive Ember Spirit performance by Mac. He completely controlled the tempo of the game with great movements and immense damage.

Yet TNC proved that they were no pushovers in Game 2 with one of the most dominant showings we’ve seen in this entire qualifier. They won all three lanes handily and proceeded to dish out a 22-2 loss to Team Adroit to level the series.

The final game of the series was a much closer affair. Both teams went toe-to-toe against each other. TNC Predator took control of the early game and got themselves to a good start, but Team Adroit clawed their way back in with some impressive splitpushing. Although the game seemed evenly poised in the mid-game, Adroit simply couldn’t deal with the sustain and damage that TNC brought to the table in the later stages of the game and eventually ended up conceding the series 1-2.

Cignal Ultra and Team Adroit will now battle each other to decide the final SEA team which will be competing at the MDL: Chengdu Major.
