Earlier this month, following the conclusion of the International 9, Pan "Fade" Yi announced that he was retiring from competitive Dota after a controversial conflict between Vici Gaming (VG) and Royal Never Giveup (RNG) took place, regarding Fade’s transfer.

Allegedly, Fade claimed that RNG approached to sign him during TI9 (with better wages than what VG was offering). RNG, however, later denied these claims by stating that they have not asked any player to join their team (besides a few of Team Secret after TI9).

His return, two weeks later

Fade’s contract with Vici Gaming has reportedly expired since then. Following that he has made a few revelations about the previously-mentioned drama. He agrees that he had a talk with RNG's manager at TI9 after RNG was eliminated. However, he claims that he just wanted to comfort Monet, alleging that he didn’t approach RNG and asked them to sign him.

The ex-VG offlaner also states that he doesn't want to create drama and that he thinks that the coach and players are more important (than the club). He also claims that he left VG without any ill will after the contract expired.

Team Aster Stars

Fade will now compete under the ‘Team Aster Stars’ banner in the upcoming season as 5-position player alongside some of the most popular pro-Dota 2 players in China. Their full lineup will be:

  • Song “Sccc” Chun

  • Kee Chyuan “ChYuan” Ng

  • Lin “Xxs” Jing

  • Ye “BoBoKa” Zhibiao

  • Pan “Fade” Yi

Tong "Mikasa" Junjie was their coach last season. It is unclear whether he’ll continue to coach this team.
