The International 9, the biggest esports tournament in the world, which will feature a whopping prize pool of over $32M USD kicks off in less than 24 hours. Valve has finally decided to release the Group Stage assignments for each team competing in Shanghai.
Looking at the groups, it looks like neither group can be called the group of death. Both groups are evenly matched, at least on paper. It will be interesting to find out which team can hold their own at the International.
The format for this year’s TI remains unchanged with each team playing the other teams in their group in a BO2 series. The top four teams from each group will move into the Upper Bracket, while the teams finishing 5th-8th will be placed in the Lower Bracket. The last-place team from each group will be eliminated before making an appearance in the main-stage.
The International 2019 will kick off tomorrow, Aug. 14th 2019, at approximately 06:30 IST/09:00 PHT. With over $32M on the line, things are bound to get heated in the group stages.
