Danish star AWPer Nicolai "dev1ce" Reedtz who signed a three-year contract with Ninjas in Pyjamas a few days back on 23 April, has penned a heartfelt message for all his fans and his former organization Astralis. The 25-year-old who won 4 Majors with Astralis took the entire CS:GO community by surprise, with the shocking news about his transfer to NIP. But on his way out, dev1ce wrote a beautiful message informing everyone about his departure, thanking his former teammates, and hoping that his fans stick by him through this transition period. It was quite an emotional affair for dev1ce also, being one of the founding members of Astralis’ current lineup.
Dev1ce pens a heartfelt message to Astralis and fans
Astralis and dev1ce have a long history together. Since joining the organization in Jan 2016 the talented AWPer has helped them win 4 CS:GO Majors in total, 3 of which were won one after the other - FACEIT Major: London 2018, IEM Katowice Major 2019, and StarLadder Berlin Major 2019.
So leaving the organization was definitely going to be an emotional affair right from the moment the news went public. Dev1ce did come forward to reveal the reason behind why he was leaving Astralis and how NIP was the perfect fit for him, but his best parting gift was the heartfelt message that he wrote for all his fans and Astralis.
“I’m sure most of you have now seen that as from today I am no longer a member of the Astralis team. I want to start by saying thank you to everyone at the organization, my teammates bubzkji, dupreeh, gla1ve, Xyp9x, magisk, zonic and our fans for everything that we’ve accomplished together. I love you guys and you’ll always be considered family to me,” wrote dev1ce in his touching departure letter.
He continued by talking about his time in Astralis, “I’m sure that the news hurts for some of you out there; the journey I’ve been on at Astralis – and going even further back with dupreeh + Xyp9x – has been the best time of my life and it wouldn’t have been that without your support. I know I don’t say it often enough, but to every single one of you out there; thank you for inspiring me to pursue the best version of myself.”
Dev1ce then spoke about his new team Ninjas in Pyjamas, calling the transition “natural” as calling Sweden had been his home for a while. Expressing the excitement for his upcoming project his only wish is “for you guys to understand, and continue supporting me on my next mission in this game that we all love”.
“I’m proud to be your player and Astralis will always hold a special place in my heart. My biggest hope is that when we’re able to share our passion in the arena again, you will continue to support me as you’ve always done,” concluding his message on this note dev1ce promised to put on a show moving ahead.
Since this message came out, dev1ce has already joined NIP, attending the first day with his new teammates and giving a full-fledged press conference to multiple media outlets as well. He will be debuting for NIP in the upcoming Flashpoint Season 3, which is the first European RMR tournament of 2021. All eyes will be on NIP as they set out on this new journey to the top of the competitive Counter-Strike circuit.
