It was a big day for Mathieu "ZywOo" Herbaut yesterday as he became the youngest CS:GO player in history to attain the title of “Best CS:GO Player in the World” two years in a row. To make his day even better CS:GO itself granted him an extra life in-game while competing against Complexity at BLAST Premier: Global Final 2020, as a weird Molotov bug prevented the flames from spreading to his position at ‘A Car’ on Dust 2.
Weird Molotov bug saves ZywOo from dying
Imagine you are so lucky that while playing a competitive CS:GO match a super rare bug happens to occur which saves you from dying. Well, something similar happened with the ‘Best CS:GO Player of 2020’ Mathieu “ZywOo” Herbaut who was granted a second life by CS:GO itself.
While competing against Complexity at BLAST Premier: Global Final 2020 on 20th July, ZywOo armed with an AWP was holding the ‘A Car’ position on Dust 2. Vitality was easily leading with a score of ‘15-8’ and required just one round to advance to the next round.
Down to just three players, Complexity decided to push ‘A Long’ only for ZywOo to take down another. With his position now revealed Will "RUSH" Wierzba tried to flush him out of there by throwing a Molotov, but as luck would have it the Molotov after hitting the ‘A Car’ did not spread to ZywOo’s position.
From the clip above one can see that the flames extending outwards after the Molotov burst seemed to have stopped in a sort of an arc around ZywOo. This is a super rare interaction and was most probably occurred due to some kind of a bug.
Everyone from the commentators, viewers, to even ZywOo himself was quite confused as to what happened as they all expected him to take damage. The French AWPer could be seen shaking his head around in surprise as to what he just witnessed.
Fortunately, the occurrence of that bug did not lead to any change in the outcome of yesterday’s match which was pretty much out of Complexity’s hand. But the community were quick to point out that Valve should seriously look into this and try to minimize such random glitches because in a tight game or in a do-or-die situation this could have a huge impact on the game’s outcome.
