  • First official mid-match substitution in the history of CS:GO takes place at BLAST Premier Fall 2020.
  • Team Vitality made the player switch against Complexity after winning the first map.
  • Nivera was bought in as misutaaa stepped down for one map.

It was a historic moment for CS:GO yesterday as the game observed its first ever official mid-match player substitution during the Vitality-Complexity faceoff. It was the Frech side of Vitality who made the switch as they swapped Kévin "misutaaa" Rabier with Nabil "Nivera" Benrlitom, giving their newest recruit a chance to play for the side on Dust 2.

Vitality Makes The First Mid-Match Substitution In CS:GO’s History

BLAST Premier Fall 2020 which is already being applauded by the CS:GO community for its incredible presentation and various amazing segments between the matches added another star to its cap as it became the first tournament in the history of CS:GO to witness an official mid-match player substitution.

Vitality after winning the first map against Complexity yesterday on Nuke with a score of ‘16-14’ decided to give their newest recruit Nivera a chance to play for the side on the second map Dust 2, this became a historical moment for CS:GO as it was the first time that a substitution took place in an official tournament.

Despite Vitality loosing the map it was a great outing for Nivera who went on top frag for the side with 22 kills to his name while attaining a rating of 1.11. Following this map the youngster was swapped back with misutaaa with whom the French side went on to win the last map on Vertigo and secure the series ‘2-1’.

They are the only team sporting a six-man roster that has played in BLAST Premier: Fall 2020 and have made use of the substitution rule so far. Again today Vitality were seen substituting misutaaa and Nivera between maps as they took down BIG quite comfortably on both Dust 2 and Overpass.

Astralis and G2 Esports also currently field a six-man roster so it will be interesting to see if they opt to make use of the substitution rule or not. It will make the viewing experience a little more interesting and personally I have been dying to see how well do the Danes utilize their players in a tournament where mid-match player switching is allowed without any penalty.
