  • Two variants of CS:GO coach spectator bug might still exist.
  • Valve successfully fixed an early instance of the bug on third September.
  • The existing variants gives greater advantage to the user but are more random in occurrence.

The coach spectator bug incident which took the CS:GO community by storm and is currently undergoing an active investigation by ESIC (Esports Integrity Commission) could still be an active threat as a few variants of the exploit might still exist, according to the freelance tournament referee Michal Slowinski who is also a lead investigator on this case.

CS:GO Coach Spectator Bug Might Still Exist

Despite Valve reportedly fixing one instance of the coach spectator bug on 3rd September, Michal believes that at least two more variants of the bug might still exist. In an earlier episode of HLTV Confirmed, he stated that “Unfortunately I think there might be more. I think there might be two more different instances that we are looking into right now.”

He further said that both these variants are being looked into and are in some ways even more advantageous than the previous instance. The way they are activated is obviously different and are more random in occurrence then its predecessor.

This means that the threat of a coach getting information on the opposite team within the server is still a possibility. But it is highly unlikely that anyone would be resorting to such measures anymore especially in Tier-1 and Tier-2 tournaments, as everyone has witnessed first hand how seriously tournament organizers and even Valve are treating such cases which very much fall within the act of cheating.

ESIC has announced that it will be going through 25,000 CS:GO demos all the back till 2016 and had even given coaches who had abused this bug a chance to come forward with an admission of their wrongdoing until 13th September.

A lot of coaches like Faruk "pita" Pita, Allan "Rejin" Petersen, Slaava "Twista" Rasanen, and more came forward during this ‘Confession Period’ to admit having used this bug. Let’s see what the outcome of the investigation reveals and when does Valve finally get rid of all the coach spectator bugs.
