  • Mantuu will be playing for OG in the upcoming DreamHack Open Summer 2020: Europe.
  • He had been diagnosed with a painful medical condition called 'De Quervain's tenosynovitis' a few months back.
  • The player has now almost recovered from the injury that had affected both his thumbs.

The Polish CS:GO star Mateusz "mantuu" Wilczewski will be seen in action once again after reporting a month back that he had been diagnosed with ‘De Quervain's tenosynovitis’ on both his hands. It seems the 22-year-old will be playing in the upcoming DreamHack Open Summer 2020: Europe alongside OG as his name already shows up on the team’s lineup for the tournament.

In a statement provided to cybersport.pl mantuu states that “The disease is already 90% cured and will be completely healed in the next few additional visits to the doctor. Nevertheless, I am already feeling well enough to train and play at normal intensity.”

Note: The statement has been modified with proper grammar for clarity.

Just before the player break was scheduled to take place Mantuu via his Instagram story had revealed that he had been suffering from ‘De Quervain’s tenosynovitis’ since a month. The player had revealed that both his hands were affected by the painful condition which affects the tendons on the thumb side of the wrist.

Due to the inflammation of the tendons on his thumb, he would lose the sensation in his hands/thumbs/fingers while playing making it impossible to grip or pick anything comfortably or without pain. At that point of time, Mantuu had already started visiting a physiotherapist weekly in order to continue practising and competing in official matches without much pain or discomfort. He stated that,

“I had to take painkillers every time I played and I had to apply hot/cold therapy treatment as much as I could. He told me to stop playing for 6-12 weeks for the injury to heal.”

Though the player break was not long enough for Mantuu to recover, it seems the Polish is now fit and fine to pick up the mouse once again and get back to AWPing for OG.

Mantuu’s dedication to continuing playing at the time is highly commendable as OG after stumbling through the better part of 2020 had finally started to stabilise. They had made their way to cs_summit 6 Online: Europe through the closed qualifier and the fact that this tournament acted as the summer RMR event was a big deal for OG.

Fighting through personal pain and suffering the 22-year-old fought for his side well enough to place them 3rd in the tournament and win a total of 1750 points. This enabled the team to currently stand 10th on the RMR: Rio Major 2020 - Europe leaderboards, just two ranks above the qualifying threshold.S1mple Becomes the Best Pistol Round Player in the First Half of 2020

The upcoming events especially the fall RMR tournament will be a big test for OG to judge the overall success of the team and see if they will be playing in the next CS:GO Major or not.
