  • HenryG gives a hint about Valve implementing 128-tick servers for CS:GO in the coming few months.

  • The 128-tick servers have been requested by the community for a long time, something that VALORANT is utilising since the beginning.

  • The switch to the higher tick rate servers coupled with the speculated 'Source 2 Update' might drive the game's growth even further.

CS:GO talent Henry "HenryG" Greer who is working as a commentator at ESL One: Road to Rio gave a hint suggesting that Valve might be implementing 128-tick servers for official CS:GO matchmaking in a few months time.

During a segment between matches, HenryG and fellow commentators Chad "SPUNJ" Burchill and Alex "Machine" Richardson were discussing a few things, when Machine stated how the utility works differently between 64 and 128 ticks server, saying that “The 128 ticks. It also upsets me when I work really hard to learn a smoke and then I remember, I have a smoke, it just doesn’t work on this server,” taking a dig at the 64-tick servers currently being used by Valve for official CS:GO matchmaking.

But HenryG’s reply to Machine is sure to take everyone by surprise as he leaks some really incredible news by saying that “I think that will be fixed in a couple of months! Just saying, got a feeling. I got a suspicion that it was coming along.”

This is really great news for the CS:GO community who had been using third-party services like ESEA, FACEIT, and others over the years to play on 128-tick servers. But the overall view on the matter still stands divided as some members of the community point out that switching to higher tick rate servers will increase the minimum system requirements.

With Riot Games’ tactical shooter VALORANT entering the scene with 128-tick servers from the start, I think it is only right for CS:GO to make the jump as well.

The game which has been witnessing consistent growth in its userbase since November last year recently beat Dota 2’s all-time highest concurrent player peak, and with these speculated updates in the pipeline, the future for the game looks promising.
