A huge upset has taken place in the European Closed Qualifier for the Europe Minor Championship Rio 2020 as the French team Heretics smashed OG down to the lower bracket, winning their opening match in a dominating fashion with a ‘2-0’ scoreline.

A match-up that everyone thought would go in OG’s favor took an unfortunate turn for them, as Heretics crushed them on their own map pick Dust 2, which was followed by a similar outcome on Mirage as the French team looked in total control of the series since the beginning.

Bryan “Maka” Canada top fragged for his side with a total of 40 frags across the two maps as OG looked a bit scattered with their teamwork today. As usual, Issa “ISSAA” Murad played really well for his side but failed to carry the weight single-handedly.

After a bad start to 2020 following their 5th-6th finish at ICE Challenge 2020, OG had shortly bounced back at BLAST Premier: Spring 2020 Regular Season, but it looks like a lucky win considering the whitewash witnessed today.

While Heretics went on to defeat Heroic and qualified for the Europe Minors, OG is stuck in the lower bracket and will be going up against KOVA Esports in a do-or-die match tomorrow. Let’s see if OG is able to survive the lower bracket and make it through to the minors or do we get to witness some serious trouble in paradise.
