The LAN Qualifiers for the first season of FLASHPOINT came to an end yesterday with Orgless and BIG making it through to the main event, following which the organizers have also gone ahead and announced their decision to host the entire tournament in their Los Angeles studio from 13th march onwards while stating that,

“The studio is a controlled environment that allows us to implement strong policies and best practices to protect the players and our employees, while also avoiding incremental travel and interactions with fans.”

FLASHPOINT while agreeing that the safety of all the players, employees, and fans is their top priority “to contain the COVID-19 threat” also announced their decision to cancel their playoffs event which was planned to take place in Stockholm in April.

The 12 team event featuring a total prize pool of $1,000,000 still needs to confirm 3 more teams within a week’s time. The first and second stage of the main event will witness the participating teams being divided into three groups of four teams, based on their performance they will be placed in the final playoffs stage.

On the one hand, we had IEM Katowice 2020 being canceled for all the attendees due to coronavirus concerns and here we have FLASHPOINT Season 1 trying to conduct the tournament amidst the outbreak. Let’s see how the tournament proceeds and more importantly which will be the last three ‘founding member’ teams.
